WHY ROSEBAY?
Rosebay is native throughout the temperate Northern Hemisphere, including large parts of the boreal forests in Canada. It is a floral emblem of the Territory of Yukon, where it is widely spread.
Traditionally the young rosebay shoots are collected in the spring by Native American people and mixed with other greens. In the Northern Canada, the rosebay flowers are made into jelly. The honey produced from rosebay is highly valued for its quality.
Fires are quite spread in rural Canada during the summer, and rosebay is a useful tool that can be utilized after prescribed fires and logging events because of its fire resistance and ability to recycle the nutrients left in the soil after a fire.
Rosebay is one of native flowers to Canada.
